British star Raducanu and former world number ones Osaka and Wozniacki receive invitation

The first wild cards for Wimbledon were announced this Wednesday.

The winner of the US Open 2021 Emma Raducanu, 165th in the world, received an invitation to the main draw of the big event on grass, just like Naomi Osaka and Caroline Wozniacki. The 21-year-old, still very troubled by injuries in 2024, missed Roland-Garros in order to prepare for the grass season. She lost to British number one Katie Boulter in the Nottingham semi-final last week, but she could spring some surprises at Church Road, if her body is willing. Raducanu has undergone three surgeries in the past year, on both wrists and his ankle. In the women’s draw, the former world number ones, now mothers, Naomi Osaka, Caroline Wozniacki and Angelique Kerber join directly the big British draw. Among the Gentlemen, seven Britons are in the spotlight: Liam Broady, Jan Choinski, Jacob Fearnley, Arthur Fery, Billy Harris, Paul Jubb and Henry Searle. There is still one wild card to be distributed among the men and one among the women.
