Bronny James Emerging on Dallas Mavericks Radar for Draft, Charles Barkley Announces Retirement: Update on NBA News

Bronny James has landed on the radar of the Dallas Mavericks for the upcoming draft. Charles Barkley is also retiring after 25 years as a TV pundit. All the news in the update.

Bronny to the Mavs?

The Dallas Mavericks are interested in Bronny James. This is reported by NBA insider Marc Stein. According to his report, Dallas is considering drafting LeBron’s son with the 58th pick. According to Stein, however, the Mavericks are aware that it is extremely unlikely that James will still be available at the end of the second round.

“All current indications are that Bronny James will be selected earlier in the second round, before Dallas has its final pick in the draft,” Stein wrote in his article.

According to Bronny’s agent Rich Paul, it is unlikely that James will train for the Mavericks or any other team before the draft. The former USC student has already completed practice sessions for the Lakers and the Phoenix Suns.

Barkley resigns

Charles Barkley will retire from the TV business after the coming season. The 61-year-old has been part of the popular show “Inside the NBA” since 2000.

“I’ve decided that next year will be my last year on television, no matter what,” Barkley said. “I’m hoping TNT can keep the rights, but I wanted you to hear it from me personally.”

He will pass the baton to Jamal Crawford, Vince Carter or Steve Smith, he further explained.

The NBA is currently putting the broadcasting rights in the USA out to tender for the 2025/26 season, and according to media reports, TNT has come away empty-handed. That’s why there has been speculation in recent weeks about whether the crew of Barkley, Ernie Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal and Kenny Smith could sign on with a future rights holder.

Pleiß leaves Istanbul

Former national player Tibor Pleiß will leave Anadolu Efes after six years. The 34-year-old celebrated great success with the Istanbul club, including winning the Turkish championship twice and crowning himself EuroLeague winner in 2021 and 2022. Where the center will go is still open.
