Bulls reportedly trading Alex Caruso to Thunder for Josh Giddey

The Chicago Bulls are trading two-time All-Defensive guard Alex Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder for guard Josh Giddey, per ESPN.

The 30-year-old NBA champion Caruso averaged a career-high 10.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.7 steals in 28.7 minutes per contest across 71 total games for the Bulls last season to go along with a .468/.408/.760 shooting line.

The Bulls had withstood trade offers for Caruso in recent years but decided to part with him as he enters the final year of his current contract, per Hoops Rumors. Caruso had one year left on his four-year, $36.98 million deal.

Giddey, the sixth overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, started all 210 regular-season games he played for the Thunder over the past three seasons. He’s coming off a season where he averaged a career-low 12.3 points and 4.8 assists per game.

His best season came during the 2022-23 campaign, when he averaged 16.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game on .482/.325/.731 shooting. Giddey was named to the All-Rookie second team during the 2021-2022 season.

Giddey was the subject of investigations by the NBA and local police due to allegations that he engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a minor, but both investigations were closed earlier this year.
