The Mainz Athletics completed the three-game sweep against their neighbors from Hünstetten on Saturday. A 16:6 win in the catch-up game on Wednesday evening and a 12:3 win on Friday evening were followed by a narrow 4:3 victory on Saturday. The guests from Taunus were already 0:3 ahead in the middle of the fifth inning.
On Friday evening, the Stuttgart Reds were unable to snatch victory from the Guggenberger Legionnaires after a brilliant comeback, losing 7:9. But on Saturday afternoon, they managed to do so in the second encounter, leaving the field as winners with a score of 3:2. The home team from Regensburg fought against the impending defeat and filled the bases again in the last inning, but the Reds managed to get the third out at home plate.
The Bonn Capitals narrowly won game one of the top duel against the Hamburg Stealers 3:2. At Ballpark Langenhorst, the decision was made in favor of the guests from the Rhineland in the fifth inning, when the Caps scored their only three runs with a walk and two hit-by-pitches with the bases loaded.
In the first game of the double header, the Munich-Haar Disciples suffered a narrow 2:3 defeat against the Heidenheim Heideköpfe. In the match, which was scheduled to last seven innings, both batting formations were on the back foot with only 2:1 hits in favor of the Upper Bavarians.
After the defeat in Game 1, the Disciples were able to celebrate a 1-0 win in the second duel against the Heidenheim Heideköpfe in their home ballpark Eglfing. Haar’s starting pitcher Ryan Bollinger was named man of the match. The American pitched a complete game over the shortened playing time of seven innings and only allowed five hits from the Heideköpfe. The powerful Heidenheimers were unable to score anything against the lefty. The duel between Bollinger and batter ended in a strikeout ten times.
