Palencia became the epicentre of regional basketball. Before the Gala, the General Assembly of FBCyL took place in the assembly hall of the Palacio de Diputación, where, in addition to addressing and debating the Competition Rules and the General Competition Regulations, other no less important issues were discussed, related to the mutual insurance for sports accidents, the approval of what the Federation and Clubs will apply in terms of the protection of children’s rights. Another point included in the agenda was the measures that the Federation is going to propose to try to eradicate the disrespectful behaviour of some spectators (normally parents of players), an objective shared with the clubs.

The financial statements for the 2023 financial year were approved, which show a positive result of 50,955.45 and a solvent financial economic situation, as well as the budget for 2024, which stands at 2,348,500

The most extensive exchange of views took place when debating some amendments concerning the Competition Rules and the RGCyL, which once again highlights the complexity of articulating models that satisfy clubs with very different objectives, taking into account differences in sporting objectives or geographical location.

During the Gala, the Castilla y León Basketball Federation awarded the silver badge to Roberto Estébanez Galende who, after 10 years as Provincial Delegate in Zamora (the last 4 combining this position with that of third vice president in FBCyL) decided not to continue to carry out this task.

The Castilla y León Basketball Federation would like to thank the Provincial Council of Palencia for its hospitality, the treatment it received and the facilities it provided to host the General Assembly and the XXIV Castilla y León Basketball Gala, which took place in an incomparable setting.
