Le Volant Bisontin, the largest badminton club in Franche-Comté with its 284 players, is celebrating its 40th anniversary in Besançon on June 29 and 30.
Badminton, a demanding and fast sport, requires agility, endurance and strategy. Played in singles or doubles, it develops coordination and reactivity, in matches that last about 45 minutes and are played in 2 winning sets of 21 points.
“However, anyone can play and, if they want, become very good.” underlines Carole Mouraux, practitioner and development manager within the club. A shuttlecock weighs 5 grams and a racket less than 100 grams, in other words it does not require particular muscular strength or a defined morphotype. You can be very tall, very small or rather strong, it has no impact.”
The club does not just excel on the pitch with a leading team in Nationale 3: it also invests in its badminton school and in social actions. Its socio-sporting project aims to re-engage young people aged 16 to 25 looking for employment or training through badminton. This system, supported by the Ministry of Labor, makes Volant Bisontin the only federal representative involved in this national inclusion project.

A birthday weekend
For its fortieth anniversary, on June 29 and 30 at the Palais des Sports, the club is offering a weekend open to all, spectators and curious onlookers welcome at the tournament with refreshments and entertainment… And during a gala evening on Saturday evening, a look back at the highlights of the club’s life, a tribute to those who contributed to its success, demonstrations, surprises, a festive evening with a meal (registration required).
