Fulda (cb) – 79 special awards for unique sporting achievements: Some special and heart-warming moments were experienced on Friday evening in the Johannisau sports park. For the first time, the young talents were honored separately from adults in a sports awards ceremony.
“The whole city of Fulda is proud of you,” said Fulda’s mayor, welcoming the people. Several guests had come to show the children and young people under 16 the respect they deserve. “You are the most successful athletes in the city of Fulda,” said Wingenfeld enthusiastically. The mayor has long been concerned with creating sporting incentives for the youngest athletes. This is also why the awards were no longer given out together with the adults. “We wanted to do something new,” said Wingenfeld: “This way you can be in the spotlight.”
Even though the athletes were the focus, the mayor knew that success can only be achieved with a functioning team. He was therefore delighted to see how many parents, coaches and supervisors found their way to the stadium. “It is always a team success,” said Wingenfeld: “No matter what sport, not much works alone.” Fulda’s “sports mayor” Dag Wehner, as Wingenfeld called him, was also present and spoke to the guests. “Today we are again seeing good successes in the development of children and young people. You are doing a really great job.” The event was moderated by Harald Piaskowski, chairman of the sports association of the city of Fulda and the Fulda-Hünfeld sports district. He led the event with wit and charm and was delighted with the 79 awards in the perfect weather. Beaming with joy, he presented the awards to the young athletes.
“Without all of you, our sport in the region would not be so great,” stressed Piaskowski. A special highlight was the performance by Chris Bennet Bröker. The freestyler showed his football tricks to the sounds of modern music. The spectators clapped rhythmically in time and were amazed. This was followed by an enchanting performance by Hannah and Charlotte Krebs. The two sisters from Pilgerzell thrilled the audience with their acrobatics and performed as a duo. After the official part, the guests were able to round off the afternoon with a snack and drinks and exchange information about their successes.
