Challenges and Opportunities for Football Development in the Loire District: An Interview with District President Thierry Delolme

The Loire district is one of the most important in France. Unfortunately, despite a growing number of licensees, the quality of infrastructure is far from satisfactory. The current president of the Loire district nevertheless hopes to continue to have good relations with ASSE, after the arrival of the new shareholders. An interview to be found in Le Progrès.

Thierry Delolme has been the current president of the Loire district since 2016. He was re-elected and will serve a third and final term. “We are a great footballing country, with 32,000 members, but we have a problem with structures and financial resources. […] We received nearly 220,000 euros in state aid (for an operating budget of 800,000 euros, Editor’s note). This allowed our clubs to get back on track.”

Towards the development of women’s football?

The ASSE women’s team is increasingly successful on the national level. The new management has also mentioned that it also wants to develop the ASSE Women’s team. At present, there are still a lot of things to do. The district would also like to be part of this project. “We would like to see if we can partner with ASSE which needs to develop a training center for women. The district is ready to become a partner in this project, but there are too many unknowns at this time. »

A relationship still as close-knit between the district and ASSE?

For many years, the Loire district has had a very good relationship with ASSE. This is especially the case with Roland Romeyer.
“We had an exceptionally close relationship with Roland Romeyer. When I talk about it to other district presidents who also have L1 clubs, it’s far from being the same thing.” For the continued development of men’s and women’s football in the Loire department, it would be interesting for this to continue.” I take this opportunity to hope that we will maintain our excellent relations with ASSE and with the new shareholders.”
