Chase Budinger Goes from NBA to Beach Volleyball at the Olympic Games

Chase Budinger played in the NBA for seven years. During that time, he never made it to the Olympic Games. But the 36-year-old is now taking part in Paris – in a different sport.

NBA stars at the Olympic Games in Paris are not only to be found on the basketball court – an ex-professional has now also qualified for the Summer Games in beach volleyball. Chase Budinger and his partner Miles Evans secured their participation on Wednesday. The two will thus be one of the two men’s duos from the USA to compete in France.

Olympic qualification secured for German duo Ehlers/Wickler

The 36-year-old had played seven seasons in the NBA and was under contract with the Houston Rockets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Indiana Pacers and Phoenix Suns.

The German champions Nils Ehlers/Clemens Wickler have also already secured their participation in the Olympic Games through their international rankings. For Lukas Pfretzschner/Sven Winter, the final Olympic qualifying tournament from June 13th to 16th in Jurmala, Latvia, is their only chance of qualifying for Paris. A maximum of two duos per nation are allowed to compete at the Olympics.
