As The Athletic reports, Chelsea FC, where Maatsen is under contract, and Aston Villa have agreed on a transfer for the 22-year-old Dutchman. In return, the Villans will pay a transfer fee of 41 million euros to London for the left-back’s services. Maatsen is expected to sign a contract with his new club that runs until 2030.
Previously, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported interest from the Birmingham club.
In the second half of the last season, Maatsen was on loan at Borussia Dortmund and impressed with his good performances in the Black and Yellows’ jersey. BVB would reportedly like to keep him beyond the summer, but the Blues’ transfer fee is apparently too high for Dortmund officials.
