Cleveland Guardians Dominate Toronto Blue Jays in 7-1 Victory with Strong Pitching from Carlos Carrasco

Carlos Carrasco was solid in six innings and the Cleveland Guardians dominated the Toronto Blue Jays 7-1 on Friday.

Austin Hedges and Josh Naylor hit two-run singles for the Guardians, who have won their last three games.

Cleveland crossed the plate seven times in the second inning, where Yariel Rodríguez (0-2) and Bowden Francis needed 70 shots to get by.

In terms of number of shots, it was the most difficult round for Toronto since June 21, 1995.

Carrasco (3-6) was beaten at Rogers Center last week, part of a stretch where he was 0-4 in five starts.

The 37-year-old right-hander allowed one run and four hits, with seven strikeouts. He did not allow a walk.

Steven Kwan had an 0-for-4 night. In Toronto last week, he wreaked havoc, going 8-for-13 for a .615 average.

Vladimir Guerrero homered for the Jays, who lost their fourth straight game.

Orelvis Martinez had a hit in his very first game in major league baseball.

Ranked second among Jays prospects, Martinez singled in the sixth.

The starters on Saturday will be Jose Berrios and Ben Lively, as on June 16.

The Blue Jays then stopped Lively’s five-game winning streak by winning 7-6.
