Climbing Madrid 2024: The festival that has marked a before and after in the world of climbing

The biggest climbing festival in Spain’s history, Climbing Madrid 2024, has been a resounding success. Driven by the Community of Madrid and with the collaboration of l’Ajuntament d’Arroyomolinosthe event has had prominent sponsors such as Renfewhich has been a fundamental pillar thanks to its commitment and support to the talent and improvement of athletes.

Climbing Madrid, a festival that has united professional climbers, amateurs and enthusiasts

For a week, Arroyomolinos became the epicenter of climbing, and offered more than 60 hours of exciting activities in a festival that combined live music, sport and gastronomy in an unparalleled atmosphere. In addition, the Spanish Championship of Difficulty and Paraclimbing it was an outpouring of talent and effort on the part of the Spanish athletes.

Renfe brought us to Climbing Madrid interesting conversations and motivational interviews from international figures such as the American climber Chris Sharma and the two-time bouldering world champion, the British one Shauna Coxsey. With a master of ceremonies, the renowned Madrid climber and alpinist Carlos Suarez.

The Spanish Championship of Difficulty

Likewise, the youth categories sub14, sub16 i sub18 they were a true display of new talent.

For its part, the paraclimbing competition inspired everyone with stories of overcoming such as that of Sergio Aznárezblind and autistic climber competing for the first time, or that of Good Muñoz, who discovered climbing as part of his rehabilitation after an accident, and turned it into a hobby. Athletes with various disabilities who showed that there are no barriers when it comes to passion and effort. There is no doubt that these athletes left the level of paraclimbing in Spain very high.

During the Climbing Madrid event, attendees were able to enjoy, thanks to Renfeof a concurs entertained by to test theirs knowledges about this exciting sport that is theclimbing.
