Closing Ceremony of the 3rd Edition of the “Metropolitan Olympics” on Bari Seafront

On Sunday 30 June, at 10:00 am, on the Bari seafront, the closing ceremony of the 3rd edition of the “Metropolitan Olympics” promoted by the Metropolitan City of Bari and with the patronage of the regional CONI and Sport and health Puglia will be held. Speakers will be Michele Laporta, deputy metropolitan mayor, Luigia Carbonara, Director of the Planning Service of the School Network for the Promotion and Coordination of Youth Policies, the mayors of the metropolitan municipalities who participated in the initiative and the amateur sports associations of the 24 sports disciplines with their athletes. A day of celebration during which participation plaques, medals and trophies will be awarded and which will be followed by a series of sporting performances by athletes from numerous sports associations including the Movida di Noci Association, the Altilia Stupor Mundi flag-wavers of Altamura, the Majorettes of Murgia, the ASD Double Fire rhythmic gymnastics of Palo del Colle and the martial arts of the Kendro of Triggiano and the ASD Popular Bari. Over the course of the week, approximately 2,500 athletes participated and over 400 tournaments were held in the sports facilities of the Municipalities of Acquaviva delle Fonti, Adelfia, Alberobello, Altamura, Bitetto, Bitonto, Capurso, Casamassima, Cassano delle Murge, Cellamare, Conversano, Giovinazzo, Gravina in Puglia, Modugno, Mola di Bari, Molfetta, Monopoli, Noci, Palo del Colle, Ruvo di Puglia, Rutigliano, Sannicandro di Bari, Terlizzi, Triggiano, Turi and Valenzano. The athletes competed in the following sports disciplines: A5 football, A9 football, F/M basketball, 9-a-side football, F/M volleyball, tennis, handball, athletics, cycling, table tennis, swimming, rhythmic gymnastics, artistic gymnastics, taekwondo, skating, karate, triathlon, judo, weight lifting, kick boxing, archery, sports dance, ju jitsu. To close the event, a great sports and entertainment celebration will take place on Sunday which will start with a parade along the Bari seafront of all the participants, from the Palazzo della Città Metropolitana to Largo Giannella, in which the flag-wavers and timpanists of Altilia Stupor Mundi of Altamura and the Majorettes of Murgia.
