While the identity of the perpetrators of the ‘Milyang middle school girls’ gang rape case’ was revealed on the Internet, causing controversy, the identity of another person presumed to be the perpetrator was revealed.

On the 21st, a video titled ‘Milyang Park OO has been hiding for a long time?’ was posted on the YouTube channel ‘Battle Rabbit’.

YouTuber A, who posted the video, said, “In addition to the 10 people who have been sentenced to juvenile detention who you think are the instigators, there are more perpetrators who have been sentenced to juvenile detention,” and “one of them is Mr. Park.”

Mr. A explained, “Mr. Park is close friends with the perpetrator who was previously exposed,” and “Until recently, we had a golf meeting in Miryang and are also active in a badminton club.”

He continued, “Mr. Park works for a company in Ulsan and his annual salary is estimated to be around 80 million won. There is news that he is preparing to marry someone he met at a badminton club.”

Regarding this act of disclosing personal information, Mr. A said, “The reason I can upload a video like this is because it is my role to ensure that the public’s interest continues.”

Netizens who watched the video said, “I just called Park’s company. Let’s make him quit by tomorrow,” “Group sex crime in Miryang, Gyeongsang Province, everyone in the same box, so creepy,” “Why on earth does a country protect the human rights of rapists?” There was public outrage, with reactions such as “Do I have to pay taxes?”

In addition, there were netizens who reported, “This girl’s younger sister also committed school violence when she was in middle school. She was beaten so severely that she couldn’t even go to school because her face was damaged.”

The Miryang gang rape incident occurred in 2004 when 44 high school students from the Miryang area gang-raped a female middle school student from Ulsan for a year. The Ulsan District Prosecutors’ Office, which investigated the case at the time, indicted 10 of the perpetrators, and they were sent to juvenile detention centers. The remaining 20 people were also sent to juvenile detention centers, and the other perpetrators either reached an agreement with the victim or were not included in the complaint, so it was decided that there was no right to prosecute.

Afterwards, the incident seemed to be forgotten, but it has recently drawn attention again as the identities of the perpetrators were revealed one after another in online spaces.

However, as problems arise such as those identified as perpetrators being fired from their jobs or videos posted by YouTubers who revealed their identities suddenly being deleted, controversy is rising over ‘private sanctions’.
