Corentin Moutet withdraws after injured wrist

The 55th player in the world suffers from wrist pain and is forced to withdraw from the British Grand Slam tournament.

Frenchman Corentin Moutet (world number 55), injured in a wrist, withdrew from Wimbledon, Friday a few hours after the draw which had assigned him to Australian Alex De Minaur (9th) in the first round, announced the organizers. Moutet will be replaced in the main draw by Australian lucky loser James Duckworth.

In doubles, Moutet had to play with his compatriot Hugo Gaston. The team is replaced in the table by the American pair formed by Christopher Eubanks and Evan King.

Wimbledon did not specify which wrist was causing Moutet pain, but the Frenchman had fractured his right wrist in the second round of the 2023 Australian Open. The left-hander had undergone surgery and spent many months in rehabilitation.

He had returned to competition despite being unable to play his two-handed backhand, preferring to play only one-handed slice backhands while he recovered, rather than waiting to be 100% fit to return to the circuit.
