San José, Jun 20 (DNP).- This summer a new edition of the Summer Olympic Games will take place in Paris. It will be the third time that the popular sporting event will be held in the French capital and the 17th time that Costa Rica will participate in the event. Let’s take a closer look at what we can expect from the 2024 Olympic Games.
Costa Rica may be a small country with a small population, but that has not stopped us from participating in the Olympic Games. In fact, we have been participating regularly since 1964, when two Costa Rican athletes, one of them judo master Orlando Madrigal, traveled to the land of the rising sun to compete.
This year, it is time for Costa Rica to participate in the Olympic Games for the 17th time, and billions of spectators around the world will witness it. Claudia won the gold medal in Atlanta in 1996 and two bronzes in Sydney in 2000. Silvia won the silver medal in Seoul in 1988. That said, four consecutive Olympic Games have now gone by without a Costa Rican victory.

Today, Costa Rica is ranked as the 103rd Olympic country in the world (one hundred and fifty-six countries have won medals).
