Costa Rican judo left a good impression at the Marrakech African Open, where national athletes won two medals.
These are Diana Brenes and Sebastián Sancho.
Brenes, in the -70 kg category, managed to win the bronze medal. She defeated the Moroccan Nassma Essatouri, she failed in the semifinals with the French Florine Soula and won third place against Wafa Hadri of Morocco.
For Sancho (-60) the joy was tinged with silver, after losing in the final against Ashley Mackenzie of Jamaica. To get there they beat the Moroccan Alaqui Cherifi and in the semifinals the local El Mekkaoui.
These results allow Brenes to maintain the continental quota to qualify for Paris 2024.
