Costa Teguise Lanzarote Judo Club Continues Dominance in National Elite

The Costa Teguise Lanzarote Judo Club (CJCT) will be one more year, and it has been nineteen seasons, in the national judo elite after achieving a new record of victories this weekend at the facilities of the Villaviciosa de Odón Pavilion (Madrid) on the last day of the 2024 National Club League.

The Teguiseño club, which had already mathematically confirmed its presence in the national league for another year, achieved three new victories this Saturday against Sakura Madrid (4-1), against Binefar Aragón (3-2) and against Valdemoro Madrid (3- 2). On this last day the CJCT staff, led by the 5th Dan teacher, Alejandro Ramírez, and the 4th Dan delegate and Coach, Julián Lozano, was made up of Xerach Hernández, Pedro Gómez, Diego Fernández, Álvaro Cano, Brais Pereira and Martin Salvado.

The head of the team, Antonio Ramírez, confirms that “we are tremendously proud of these boys. We are once again in the Top Ten of the highest national category after these three victories this week and we remain undefeated in this 2024 National Club League despite some bumps along the way. I don’t want to give it more importance than it has, but the sanction received in the first match of the first day where we made a mistake in the registration prior to the match by lining up an extra cup has weighed us down and removed us from the podium. Unfortunately, both the opposing club and the organization realized this error and, instead of notifying us and allowing us to correct it, they claimed that they could not communicate anything until the infraction was committed. We won the match 4-1 and, if the error had been pointed out to us and the extra cup had not competed, we would have also won 3-2. Unfortunately we are witnessing a lack of ethics and sportsmanship, among other foundations that we boast about in Judo. The sanction removed us from the national podium, our main objective. The loss of points and battles moved us to third place in the standings, but our club has proven to have a more than notable squad and we are already thinking about next season. The capital and only important issue in the end is that Judo Costa Teguise Lanzarote continues for the nineteenth year in the national elite of Judo and the “Green Tide” will continue to spread and defend the name of its land throughout Spain and Europe,” concludes Antonio Ramírez.
