Cristiano Ronaldo is not selfish even though he is facing the Turkish goalkeeper. He chose to pass the ball to Bruno Fernandes to score a goal.

Portugal managed to beat Turkey 3-0 in the second match of Group F of the 2024 European Cup which took place at Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund, Germany on Saturday (22/6). Selecao das Quinas opened the scoring in the 21st minute through Bernando Silva.

Roberto Martinez’s troops were able to double their lead after Samet Akaydin scored an own goal in the 28th minute. Portugal added one goal after the break from Bruno Fernandes in the 55th minute.

Cristiano Ronaldo still hasn’t scored a goal in the 2024 European Cup after not getting his name on the scoreboard in this match. Even so, CR7 had quite a big influence in Portugal’s victory over Türkiye.

He had an important role in creating Portugal’s third goal. This 39 year old striker escaped the offside trap until he found himself facing Turkish goalkeeper Altay Buyindir.

Ronaldo, who is often eager to score goals, this time unselfishly passed the ball to Bruno Fernandes who was beside him. The Manchester United midfielder finished Ronaldo’s ball well into a goal.

Thanks to his assist to Bruno, Ronaldo is now the player with the most assists in European Cup history along with Karel Poborsky. According to UEFA data, Ronaldo and Poborsky currently have eight assists at the Euros.

Ronaldo previously held the record as the highest goal scorer in European Cup history. He has scored 14 goals in this event.
