CSP Limoges confirmed in Betclic Elite, limited payroll for Asvel

The National Directorate of Management Consulting and Control (DNCCG) – financial watchdog of the National League (LNB) – confirmed on Friday the commitment of CSP Limoges to Betclic Elite next season. The Limoges club was saved after the arrival of a new shareholder. Meeting last Tuesday, the LNB’s Higher Management Council ratified the decision taken on the 13th by the DNCCG to finally authorize CSP to participate in the next season.

Agreement required to exceed payroll

Limoges had initially been relegated to the amateur category due to its financial difficulties, before this decision was revised after majority shareholder Celine Forte handed over to Lionel Peluhet, an Intermarché store boss who injected €1.6 million of his own money to cover the deficit.

Like other clubs, including Monaco, champion of France, or Paris, the finalist of the last Championship, CSP Limoges will however only be able to exceed the budgeted payroll during the season after agreement from the DNCCG.

The disappearance of the Mets 92 recorded

The latter limited Asvel’s payroll to 80% of the amount that the club offered it, the remaining 20% being able to be released by mid-September. The Villeurbanne club has announced a reduced budget for the 2024-2025 season, due to the financial difficulties of the broadcast platform Skweek, one of its main partners this season.

Finally, the meeting of the Higher Management Council definitively confirmed Boulogne-Levallois’ refusal to join Pro B. The Mets 92 had indicated in mid-May that they refused to register, a decision that put an end to their professional team. Businessman Luc Dayan then submitted a takeover plan to the Boulogne-Billancourt town hall, which owns the club, but the discussions were unsuccessful.
