Cycling: Audrey Cordon-Ragot crowned French time trial champion for the seventh time

Eternal Audrey Cordon-Ragot! This Thursday, in Saint-Martin-de-Landelles (Manche) the rider from the Human Powered Health team was crowned French time trial champion for the seventh time in her career after 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021 and 2022.

By completing the 35.2 kilometer long course in 50 minutes and 32 seconds, the Breton was 55 seconds ahead of defending champion Cédrine Kerbaol (Ceratizit-WNT) and Marion Borras (St Michel-Mavis-Auber93) by more than one minute thirty.

Very moved after the finish, Audrey Cordon-Ragot savored this new national title. “Today I wanted to give the best version of myself. In my head, the whole race was really ‘give your best, no matter the result you have to be proud of what you did’. If I had finished second, I would have been happy too because I was at full speed today. I couldn’t have done better. And that leads to victory, so much the better! “

An Olympic selection that provokes reactions

The Frenchwoman, who will participate in the Olympic Games in both the time trial and the road race, spoke about her selection. “I know that it’s growing behind me and that there was a big controversy around my selection for the Games. I understand, I hear it,” she explains in reaction to the absences of Evita Muzic or Cédrine Kerbaol at the Games.

“It is also respect for my opponents to win today with such a margin. I think they will sleep peacefully now, knowing that the one who goes to the Games is capable of doing great things. And I have great respect for those who will stay at home during the Olympic Games,” concluded the French time trial champion.

Audrey Cordon-Ragot will be accompanied by Juliette Labous on the time trial and the two runners will also be on the road race, along with Victoire Berteau.
