Adam Yates consolidated his leader’s jersey by winning the 5th stage of the Tour de Suisse, this Thursday twenty-four hours after taking first place in the general classification. The Briton beat his teammate Joao Almeida at the end of a dream day for the UAE-Emirates team.
A day later, Adam Yates had not tasted the pleasure of raising his arms for five months. Competing in the Tour of Oman, the British climber won the 5th and final stage, at the top of Jabal Al Akhdhar, and at the same time took the final victory. The winner of the 1st stage of the last Tour de France, in the streets of Bilbao with this attack in the last descent to which only his brother Simon Yates managed to respond, has not yet won this Tour de Suisse of which he is the ‘one of the great favourites.
