Fifty editions, over 470 performances and more than 700 thousand spectators from numerous Italian cities for “Autonomous Dignities of Prostitution”, the show/happening by Luciano Melchionna which returns to the stage, from 29 June to 14 July, in the Castel Sant’Elmo in Naples.
Presented by Teatro Bellini and Ente Teatro Cronaca Vesuvioteatro in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of Campania Museums and Castel Sant’Elmo – Museum of the Twentieth Century in Naples, DADP returns for the third consecutive year to animate the ancient walls of the Castle which “confirms – we read in a note from the Campania Regional Museums Directorate – its role as protagonist of the city’s cultural programming”.
The original format invented by Luciano Melchionna with Betta Cianchini offers an immersive experience in theater (first of all), in history, poetry and music “reversing the negative sign attributed to the term ‘closed house’ – write the authors – to offer “pills of pleasure for the mind and heart of the spectator, fragments of civil theater that, through the many monologues and the various performances, make up the composite plot and dramaturgy of the show”.

“This year DADP is dedicated to the last – underlines the director Melchionna – and for this reason the show begins with a moving journey in the ‘Pietà’.
Using the very strong Michelangelo sign, this prologue offers passers-by the sight of many lifeless bodies held in their arms and repeatedly picked up from the ground in a continuous and agitated action on the poignant notes of the ‘Requiem for Pasolini’, in homage to the Maestro Roberto De Simone ”.

The theatrical action leads spectators from the bottom of the ancient drawbridge to the internal ambulatories where rare audio testimonies of Sandro Pertini, Pier Paolo Pasolini and other human symbols of freedom resonate, accompanying people “to see the stars again” in the great Piazza d’Armi”. On stage, together with Melchionna and with Milla’s costumes, a large cast of 35 artists (including actors and musicians) of different generations.
