“Several teams, including the Mavs, have checked on Jerami Grant’s situation in Portland,” Begley wrote. Grant, 30, is entering the second season of a five-year, $160 million contract with the Trail Blazers. According to ESPN’s Bobby Marks, the salary cap is expected to rise steadily over the next few seasons due to the NBA’s new broadcast rights deals. This is relevant because the Grant deal will be viewed very differently in 2-3 years. Still, Grant has been very productive since becoming a full-time starter in the NBA.

Moreover, upon joining the Detroit Pistons in 2020, Grant broke out with a career-high 22.3 points per game, finishing second in Most Improved Player voting.
