The Danish mixed doubles Jesper Toft and Amalie Magelund have qualified for the final of the badminton tournament US Open, which is part of the BWF World Tour.

In the final, the Danes will face the Thai mixed doubles Pakkapon Teeraratsakul and Phataimas Muenwong.

The tournament is played in the Texas city of Forth Worth.

There is a total of 210,000 US dollars up for grabs in the US Open – almost DKK 1.5 million.

The mixed doubles final will be played on Sunday at 10.20pm Danish time.

It is only recently that Jesper Toft and Amalie Magelund have started playing together.

Head of Sports in Badminton Denmark, Jens Meibom, has stated in this connection that the organization is optimistic on behalf of the new Danish doubles, of which the duo is a part.

– There is no doubt that we have succeeded in creating some new doubles who have done well, and that we are well on our way to completing the generational change on the doubles side that we set out to do, since many of the established doubles players stopped a few years ago, he stated earlier in June.
