An American data analysis company revised its prediction of the Korean national team’s gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics by lowering it from 9 to 8.
Gracenote, a data analysis company under Nielsen in the U.S., predicted Korea to collect a total of 29 medals (8 gold medals, 5 silver medals, and 16 bronze medals) in its own medal predictions on the 26th (local time), 30 days before the opening of the Paris Olympics. It was predicted that it would rank 10th overall this year.
Compared to Gracenote’s previous prediction, the number of gold medals decreased, and the number of other medals increased. Gracenote predicted in April, 100 days before the opening, that Korea would win a total of 24 medals, including 9 gold, 4 silver, and 11 bronze medals.
Although the number of gold medals has decreased, the number is rather high compared to the goal of the Korean Sports Council. The Korea Sports Council has set a goal of 5 gold medals and 15th overall ranking for this competition. However, the Korea Sports Council also expects to achieve better results than previously expected.
