In return for the guard, the Hawks will receive Larry Nance Jr., Dyson Daniels and EJ Liddell, as well as two first-round picks, according to NBA insiders Shams Charania of The Athletic and Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The defensively strong Murray is expected to provide more stability for the Pelicans, especially since starting point guard CJ McCollum has clear weaknesses in terms of defense.

This was particularly evident in the first round of the playoffs, when the Pelicans had no chance against the Oklahoma City Thunder and lost 4-0. With Murray, a new attack is to be launched next season.

NBA: Hawks could also trade Trae Young

It is still unclear what the Hawks’ future looks like. Atlanta could now either put everything in the hands of their playmaker Trae Young and hope that the reinforcement of number 1 draft pick Zaccharie Risacher will be enough to improve things.

The alternative was a complete rebuild, for which the Hawks would also trade Young for several picks and young players.

This season, the Hawks were placed tenth in the Eastern Conference and made it into the play-in tournament, but were immediately defeated by the Chicago Bulls.

Before the Murray trade, the blockbuster trade of Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks had already caused a stir.
