Denver Nuggets and Jamal Murray Close to $209 Million Contract Extension: Report

The Denver Nuggets and Jamal Murray are very close to closing a contract extension for the maximum salary at a rate of four years and 209 million dollars, according to the journalist of The Athletic Shams Charania. The franchise has not yet formally submitted the offer, but both parties are expected to accept the deal.

The point guard is entering the final year of a five-year, $182.8 million contract he signed in July 2019 that will pay him $36 million over the 2024-25 season.

Under the terms of the extension, Murray would earn approximately $46.5 million in the 2025-26 season; 50.2 million in 2026-27; 53.9 million in 2027-28 and 57.7 million dollars in the last year, as added by journalist Yossi Gozlan. Murray, 27, could have added a fifth year to his contract worth $61.4 million if he had signed the extension in 2025, according to Gozlan, but he has apparently preferred to secure his future sooner rather than later.

In parallel, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has confirmed to the franchise his intention to reject his player option worth 15.4 million to become an unrestricted free agent as of July 1.
