Discussions underway for a project to take over the Metropolitans 92 in Pro B

Two weeks after Limoges, the Metropolitans 92 file is approaching its conclusion. Red lantern of Betclic Élite, the Ile-de-France club had not submitted a Pro B entry file at the end of the season. But at the end of May, the former president of several football clubs Luc Dayan applied for a takeover of the Mets, owned by the town hall of Boulogne-Billancourt, with a potential investor.

As revealed Tuesday by Le Parisien, the National Basketball League (LNB) gave Victor Wembanyama’s former club until Saturday to file an appeal and be heard on Tuesday by the DNCCG (financial policeman) in order to save its place in Pro B. Since then, discussions have progressed positively according to our information, between the town hall and the takeover project around the Eurostep Ventures investment fund and another actor, deemed “credible” by someone close to the matter.

The room, a file not yet settled

As of Thursday afternoon, the town hall had not yet given the green light to file this appeal. Unlike the Limougeaud case, the club is in a net positive situation as of June 30 and must above all present a forecast budget for 2024-2025 once an agreement has been reached between the town hall and the potential buyers. There will also be the question of the room that would house the Mets 92.

The Palais des sports Marcel-Cerdan in Levallois will be occupied by the volleyball champions of France, involved in League A as well as the Champions League, and the basketball club based in Levallois, recently promoted to Nationale 1. Enough to seriously reduce the slots available. But the scenario of a return of the Mets to their usual lair would not be completely ruled out. Otherwise, the new leaders will have to explore fallback solutions in Hauts-de-Seine such as Issy-les-Moulineaux or Rueil-Malmaison.
