Doubleheader Split in Matane: Frontière FM and Allées du Boulevard Share Victories

They say that doubleheaders are meant to be split. That’s what happened Saturday afternoon in Matane, between Edmundston’s Frontière FM and Allées du Boulevard.

The young Matanese team came close to being swept away. She led 5-4 with two outs in the 7th inning of Game 1 when an infield error allowed what became the winning run.

Patrick Morin, in relief, deserves the victory while Louis-Félix Noël, who came in in 7th for the save, is the losing pitcher. Pier-Alex Pelletier had been solid during the first six innings with only four hits allowed and a dozen batters struck out.

Veteran Junior Coulombe then spaced out five hits to lead the Allées du Boulavard to a 5-1 victory. Raphaël Bérubé and Louis-Félix Noël each had two hits off losing pitcher Seth Querze, who struck out seven.

Matane (4-8) remains in 7th place in the Puribec League standings, one game behind Edmundston (5-7).
