Artem Dovbyk is the top scorer in LaLiga 2023/2024. However, the Girona striker died when Ukraine was defeated by Romania at Euro 2024.
Dovbyk is the actor behind Girona’s rise last season. Surprisingly, Girona finished runners-up behind Real Madrid and Dovbyk won El Pichichi with 24 goals.
Amazingly, Dovbyk was able to score two hat-tricks, passing players like Jude Bellingham, Robert Lewandowski and Alexander Sorloth, who once led the top scorer standings.
It is hoped that Dovbyk’s sharpness will help Ukraine talk a lot at Euro 2024. Coincidentally, Ukraine is in a group with potential champions Belgium and two other dark horses, Slovakia and Romania.
The first Group E match at the Allianz Arena, Monday (17/6/2024) evening WIB, was Dovbyk’s first test. Unfortunately, the match ended in misery for Dovbyk.
Instead of looking good, Dovbyk was helpless and only made one attempt throughout the 90 minutes. This was only done by Dovbyk in the 83rd minute when his shot sailed over the bar from close range.
Ukraine, which dominated ball possession around 71 percent and made 13 attempts, finally lost 0-3. With this result, Dovbyk and Ukraine have to work hard in the remaining two matches to secure a ticket to qualify for the Round of 16.
