The streamer Dr Disrespect wanted to tell his side of the story. But YouTube and other ex-partners are turning off the funding tap.
California, USA – “Dr Disrespect” (Herschel Guy Beahm) is now being hit like a boomerang by his Twitch ban 4 years ago. The well-known streamer has withdrawn, but in his absence, YouTube and other sponsors are reacting to his statement on X (formerly Twitter).
Nobody wants anything to do with Dr Disrespect anymore: YouTube, NBA, Football
YouTube turns off the money tap: Since his Twitch ban in 2020, Dr Disrespect has primarily been active on YouTube. But the streamer can no longer earn money with videos on the platform. After Dr Disrespect’s catastrophic statement in June 2024, YouTube reacted as follows:
We have suspended monetization of Dr. Disrespect’s channel because it violates our creator responsibility policies.
Dropped like a hot potato: It is not yet known whether the demonetization on YouTube will remain permanent or only active for a short time. However, numerous other sponsors and (ex-)partners have also ended their relationships with Dr Disrespect since the latest incidents:
- The San Francisco 49ers football team distances itself from Dr Disrespect. He was seen in many advertising clips for the iconic team and even in the announcement of drafts.
- The beverage manufacturer Mountain Dew, which is particularly popular among gamers, no longer wants to work with Dr Disrespekt. The energy drink “Championship Citrus Cherry” was completely sold out shortly after its release in 2022.
- NBA2424 patches Dr Disrespect out of the basketball video game in the next update. Until now, players could perform a special “Dr Disrespect Dunk Style” and play the disgraced streamer as a character in career mode.
- Soon after the allegations became known, Dr Disrespect’s own video game studio, Midnight Society, announced the “Relationship with Guy Beahm with immediate effect”. For years, the streamer has been flexing his game’s claim that it does everything better than Call of Duty, with ‘his game’ is probably over now.
Dr Disrespect reacts to accusations and makes everything worse with statement
Dr Disrespect abolishes himself: Dr Disrespect, who has once again come under fire, responded to the allegations with a statement on June 25, 2024. But the tweet in which the streamer “wanted to tell his own story“ backfired badly. The main reason was this part of his statement:
Were there any Twitch Whisper messages involving a minor in 2017? The answer is yes. Was there any genuine intention behind those messages? Absolutely not.
Return in sight: Later, allegations arose that Dr Disrespect continued to write messages to the minor even after her age was revealed. The now-shunned streamer has not yet commented on this. Dr Disrespect has currently withdrawn. However, he announced that he “not going anywhere damn it“ and with a “heavy burden on his shoulders“.
