Drunk 20-year-old arrested after night-time manhunt in Karlsfeld. He now faces criminal proceedings.

(ty) Oppressive scenes took place at a gas station in Karlsfeld (Dachau district) on Sunday night. According to the police report, a 20-year-old was initially driving too fast. After being questioned, he is said to have threatened a young person with a baseball bat. He is then said to have taken a blank-firing gun out of his car. The driver, who was considerably drunk, was arrested during the manhunt. He will now face serious consequences, including criminal prosecution.

According to the local police station in Dachau, the threat occurred at around 1 a.m. on the gas station premises in Karlsfeld. According to witnesses, the 20-year-old, who comes from Dachau, drove through the area at excessive speed. “When several people confronted him about his behavior, the young man reacted aggressively and took a baseball bat out of his car,” it continues. “He walked towards a 16-year-old from Dachau with it and threatened him with it.” The 20-year-old was held back by several witnesses. No physical injuries were sustained.

The 20-year-old then went back to his car. He put down the baseball bat and got a blank-firing gun. “He was just holding it in his hand, but was not aiming it at anyone,” the police explained. “The man then drove away from the crime scene in his car.” As part of an immediate manhunt, the car – parked in Karlsfeld – was located. During the search of the car, both the baseball bat and the blank-firing gun were found and confiscated. A breath test carried out on the suspect showed an alcohol level of around one per mille.

The public prosecutor’s office therefore ordered a blood sample to be taken. The 20-year-old is now facing criminal proceedings for, among other things, threats and a violation of the weapons law. The consequences of the alleged drunk driving depend on the results of the laboratory test. As is well known, a blood alcohol level of 1.1 per mille or more while driving is a criminal offense – and the driver’s license may be revoked. If the value remains between 0.5 and 1.1 per mille, the 20-year-old must expect a fine, penalty points and a driving ban.
