Ducati rider Francesco Bagnaia won pole position for the 2024 Dutch MotoGP after being the fastest in qualifying at the Assen Circuit, Saturday (29/6).
Francesco Bagnaia had recorded the fastest lap with 1 minute 31 seconds. However, Bagnaia’s time was immediately broken by Jorge Martin with 1 minute 31.877 seconds.
While Martin was leading qualifying, Pecco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez were trailing behind him as the top three.
With less than 10 minutes remaining in qualifying, Alex Marquez overtook his older brother, Marc, in third place. Marquez dropped to fourth place.
The Assen circuit so far seems to be making things difficult for a number of racers. Apart from several racers falling, others almost lost their balance due to problems with tire grip on the track.
Bagnaia impressed by beating Martin’s time. Bagnaia achieved 1 minute 30.540 seconds with less than six minutes left in qualifying.
Tight competition occurs. Apart from Bagnaia overtaking Martin, Fabio Di Giannantonio displaced Alex Marquez in third place. The top three are now occupied by Bagnaia, Martin and Di Giannantonio.
Unfortunately for Marc Marquez. When he wanted to record the fastest time in the last minute, Marquez fell at corner 7.
Marquez fell when overtaking Aleix Espargaro from the inside when cornering on the left. Aleix Espargaro, who was almost overtaken, showed an angry gesture.
Pecco Bagnaia finally won pole position for the 2024 Dutch MotoGP after being the fastest in qualifying. The second position belonged to Jorge Martin and the third start was occupied by Maverick Vinales.
