Dutch National Team Captains Impress at Press Conference Following Disappointment against Austria

Reporter Noa Vahle is impressed by the captain and vice-captain. The duo attended the press conference of the Dutch national team on Friday, after there had been a two-day media silence at the team of national coach Ronald Koeman after the disappointment against Austria.

“Of course, they were bombarded with questions by the journalists present, because they had already had two days to think about all the questions they could ask,” Vahle said at Today Inside Orange. “It was admirable how calmly those two players handled it. They really didn’t avoid any questions.”

Vahle gathered from the press conference that the match against Austria was discussed extensively. “You can see that everyone looked in the mirror, that everyone took responsibility and certainly also captain Virgil van Dijk, because he also received the necessary criticism after that match. He himself said at the press conference that he absolutely did not think that was unjustified,” according to the reporter.

A satirical video of the goal of Xavi Simons against France goes viral on social media.
