Eintracht Frankfurt is making long-term plans with attacking talent Ignacio Ferri Julia. In the new season, the 19-year-old, who signed a new contract until 2028, will gain experience and match practice on loan at Belgian first division club KV Kortrijk.

With 26 goals and eleven assists, Ignacio Ferri Julia, or Nacho Ferri for short, played a key role in the promotion of Frankfurt’s U21 team to the Regionalliga Südwest in the 2022/23 season. Even back then, the 19-year-old attracted the attention of those responsible for the professional squad around head coach Dino Toppmöller with his performances. The Spaniard was able to collect his first Bundesliga minutes on matchday 5 of the previous round in Eintracht’s 0-0 draw with SC Freiburg. He added further playing time in seven games over the season. Ferri even scored his first Bundesliga goal in the 3-0 win at Union Berlin on matchday 10.
The 1.92 meter tall attacker has also had a taste of international football in four brief appearances in the Europa Conference League. The striker also regularly impressed in the second team, scoring 13 goals in the regional league and providing the assists for three more.
Contract until 2028
The reward for this: a new long-term contract until 2028. “Nacho Ferri has shown, especially in the last season, what great potential he has,” said SGE sports director Timmo Hardung on the Frankfurt homepage about the contract extension of the offensive talent. He continued: “The jump into the professional team in connection with the appearances and his first competitive goal was a significant step into professional football for Nacho.” But now, says Hardung, the attacker needs “a lot of match practice at a good level.”
For this reason, Ferri will join Belgian first division club KV Kortrijk on loan next season, where Frankfurt’s Brazilian defender Tuta already gained positive and valuable experience in 2019/20. Ferri will now also “gain rich experience at the highest national level” in the Belgian Pro League. We wish Nacho a successful time in Belgium, said Hardung.
