Eleven Injured in Escalator Malfunction at American Family Field

Eleven people were injured Saturday when an escalator malfunctioned at American Family Field in Milwaukee following the Brewers’ loss to the Chicago Cubs, a team official said.

Six people were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and five others were treated at the stadium, according to Tyler Barnes, the Brewers’ senior vice president of communications and affiliate operations.

The escalator malfunction caused “an increase in the speed of descent,” Barnes said in a statement.

Saturday’s 5-3 loss ended the Brewers’ five-game winning streak.

The Journal Sentinel reported that the Milwaukee Fire Department has referred the matter to the Brewers for comment.
