Elia Canales Martín from Tarragona Confirmed to Compete in Paris Olympics

Elia Canales Martín from Tarragona has been confirmed by the Royal Spanish Archery Federation to compete in the Paris Olympic Games, in the recurve modality, once the World Archery classification system to determine the participants has been finalized.

The federation had to determine which athletes it would choose for the individual events – one in the women’s category and one in the men’s category and both in the mixed category – after none of the teams managed to qualify.

As indicated in the criteria of the selection system for the national recurve bow team, in the event of failure to classify the teams, the athletes who would occupy the two places available to the RFETA would be designated by the High Competition Commission from among those participants in the Olympic Quota Final Tournament, held in Antalya previously held during the third and final Hyundai World Cup

After analyzing not only the results of the athletes during this season but also many other factors inexorably linked to sporting performance at the highest level, the High Competition Commission of the Royal Spanish Archery Federation has decided on Pablo Acha and Elia Canales, this one from the Tir amb Arc Constantí Club.

The woman from Tarragona has achieved spectacular results throughout this season, including the European runners-up finish she recently achieved in Essen (Germany); and also in 2023, at the European Games, where she achieved gold in the mixed modality, along with Miguel Alvariño, who secured the Olympic place for Spain.

Elia Canales talked about her options to be in the Olympic Games in this interview
