End of Filming for TV Movie ‘Murders in Saint-Martin’ Marks a New Chapter for Saint-Martin’s Film Industry

The last scene played yesterday in the buildings of the ‘fake police station’ in Marigot marked the end of the shooting of the TV movie ‘Murders in Saint-Martin’ after 25 intense days of shooting on our territory.

This new opus of the acclaimed France Télévisions series, which attracts up to 8 million viewers, is produced by ELOA Prod, founded by France Zobda and Jean-Loup Monthieux. With several shoots of the series “Meurtres à …” overseas, the two producers chose our territory to bring more visibility to overseas culture and diversity. The film crew will have crisscrossed the French part, setting up their cameras in several essential areas such as Marigot, Grand-Case, Baie Oriente, Colombier, Tintamarre, l’îlet Pinel, day and night. As a reminder, “Meurtres à Saint-Martin” features a duo of police officers, a gendarme transferred to Saint-Martin played by actor Fabrice Deville, and a policewoman from the Dutch side of Haitian origin played by Aude Legastelois, a first for the producers in order to stick to the reality of international cooperation between SXM and Sint Maarten. For Jean-Christophe Cardineau, production manager, everything went very well: “The reception was very good, with very cooperative people and happy that there was a filming type activity. No delays despite the weather uncertainties, we are very happy”. With 45 people in the filming crew including some local technicians, the TV movie “Meurtres à SXM” will also have allowed 145 residents of Saint-Martin to experience extras or small roles. The budget for filming “Meurtres à Saint-Martin” was over €2.5 million, including a €200,000 grant from the Collectivité to cover the costs of filming and production. This great experience between Eloa Production and the COM via Fabiola Rioual, audiovisual project manager in charge of hosting the filming of the TV movie, will have opened the door to the creation, by 2025, of a filming reception office for the low season in the territory of Saint-Martin. The broadcast date of the TV movie “Meurtres à Saint-Martin” on France Télévisions is still uncertain, even if we could hope to watch the final result on our small screen during the first quarter of 2025. A preview in our territory is currently being discussed between all the actors. To be continued… _Vx
