GERMAN – Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes believes that England National Team Coach Gareth Southgate’s decision not to bring Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish to the 2024 European Cup was a big mistake.

In fact, Jack Grealish was included in the list of 33 names of England national team players. However, in the end Southgate left out the Manchester City striker when deciding on the 26 names to be brought to Germany.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford is not included in the English coach’s plans at all. Remembering the decline in performance of the 26 year old retainer with Manchester United, who only scored eight goals in all competitions last season.

Southgate prefers to bring Cole Palmer, Jarrod Bowen, Eberechi Eze and Antohny Gordon, who have made a total of 19 appearances with the Three Lions.

Scholes also believes that Scholes’ substitutes on the front lines, such as Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney, are not getting enough playing time on the international stage. Therefore, he considered, Southgate’s decision not to bring Grealish and Rashford was a big mistake.

“I’m worried about the front line, of course I like (Phil) Foden/(Harry) Kane/(Buyako) Saka,” wrote Scholes on his personal Instagram page.

“But to be honest, not bringing players with knowledge of a big tournament like Rashford and Grealish (as back-up) was a big mistake,” he explained.

For your information, England National Team will start their journey at the 2024 European Cup by facing the Serbian National Team. The match will take place at the AufSchalke Arena (Gelsenkirchen), Monday (17/6) early morning WIB.
