Before the match England vs Slovakia in the last 16 of Euro 2024, there is speculation regarding changes in the Three Lions’ midfield with Kobbie Mainoo become a starter.
In England’s previous match, against Slovenia in the group stage, Mainoo came on as a half-time substitute. The match finished 0-0, but Mainoo was credited with helping the Three Lions perform better in the second half.
In this regard, there is now speculation that Gareth Southgate will give confidence to him Kobbie Mainoo to appear from the start when facing Slovakia, Sunday (30/6) evening WIB.

“Gareth Southgate is seriously considering starting Kobbie Mainoo in England’s last-16 clash with Slovakia on Sunday, sources have told ESPN. ESPN.”
It was further stated that Southgate had been looking for the right composition in midfield by trying Trent Alexander-Arnold and then Conor Gallagher to accompany Declan Rice in the group phase before finally turning to Kobbie Mainoo.
Gareth Southgate is also under pressure after England’s inconsistent form at Euro 2024 so far, despite being one of the pre-tournament favourites.
England, runners-up at Euro 2020, have qualified for the last 16 of Euro 2024 as winners of Group C. But the Three Lions’ results, and their performance, have not been satisfactory.
Of the three matches in the group phase, England successively won 1-0 against Serbia, drew 1-1 against Denmark, and another draw, namely 0-0 against Slovenia.
