Euro 2024: change of program for the France team which will not train in Dortmund

On Tuesday, the France team will play its qualification for the round of 16 of Euro 2024 against Poland. At Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund, the Blues will try to achieve a better result than the Netherlands who will face Austria. Before playing for first place in group D, the Blues experienced a small change of program.

Initially, Didier Deschamps’ selection was to train on Monday at the stadium for the upcoming match, but that will not be the case. Finally, the Blues will train at 11 a.m. at the Paderborn stadium, with a session open to the media for the first 15 minutes. A decision motivated by the restrictions imposed by UEFA. The body limits the duration of sessions on the match pitch to 45 minutes, compared to usually one hour. A measure not suitable for the French staff who generally organize an opposition of 11 against 11, which sometimes serves as a setup.

Didier Deschamps’ troop will then join Dortmund, which is an hour by bus from Paderborn. The press conference will take place at 6:45 p.m. at Signal Iduna Park, then the Blues will sleep there overnight from Monday to Tuesday. This is not the first time that the Blues have not carried out the traditional reconnaissance of the ground.

Before the match against Austria, Kylian Mbappé’s teammates were unable to train at the Merkur Spiel-Arena, at the request of UEFA. The main reason being the fragility of the stadium turf. A situation which had annoyed Didier Deschamps.
