Jakarta –
Ukraine’s success in beating Slovakia changed the competitive map in Group E of the 2024 European Cup. With three teams having the same points, anyone still has a chance of qualifying for the knockout phase.
Ukraine silenced Slovakia 2-1 in the match which was held at the Düsseldorf Arena, Friday (21/6). Falling behind due to Ivan Schranz’s goal in the 17th minute, Serhiy Rebrov’s team recovered and won thanks to goals from Mykola Shaparenko and Roman Yaremchuk in the second half.
The additional three points brought Ukraine up to second in the standings with three points, shifting Slovakia to third with the same points but losing head to head. Romania is at the top of the list with three points but has only played once.
