Facing the English, Slovenia advances, still armed with its position as an outsider in Group C, with the ambition of getting past the first round of a European Championship for the first time in its history. After upsetting Denmark (1-1), Jan Oblak’s teammates dominated Serbia until the 96th minute, during which Luka Jovic came to destroy Slovenia’s hopes by equalizing with a furious header from a corner (1 -1). Third with 2 points, the Slovenes can still qualify, but they will have to draw or win against England. Not an easy task against the European vice-champion.
Denmark favorite against Serbia
The situation is the same for Denmark, which starts in a better position in the race for qualification than the Slovenes despite having the same number of points. With two draws, the semi-finalist of the last edition must do better against Serbia on Tuesday at 9 p.m. Last with a unit gleaned in the last seconds against Slovenia, their evening opponent will also have to win to secure qualification in the round of 16 for the first Euro in its history.
The hierarchy could be significantly shaken up at the end of the last day of this group C, which appeared more contested than expected.
