Euro 2024: the classification and scenarios of Group F after Portugal’s victory against Turkey

Portugal can look ahead. After its success against Turkey (3-0), this Saturday, during the second day of Euro 2024, the selection joined Germany and Spain in the ranks of those qualified for the round of 16 of the competition . In addition to this qualification, Cristiano Ronaldo and his team are guaranteed to finish at the top of their group. The team currently has six points, before their final group match against Georgia this Wednesday.

Behind Portugal, everything remains open

The Turks, for their part, rank second with three points, but everything could change in the event of a poor performance. While Vincenzo Montella’s men challenge the Czech Republic on Wednesday, a defeat would mean at least a third place, since the Czechs, who would have four points, would move ahead of their opponents. Worse, Turkey could rank last if its defeat were combined with a Georgian victory against Portugal. In the event of a draw or victory, Turkey would be assured of finishing second with four or six points.

The Czech Republic must win against Turkey to qualify. A victory would mean at least a third place with four points, or even a second if Georgia beat Portugal by a smaller margin. A draw would place the Czechs on two points, probably too little to hope to reach the eighth, depending on the performance of the other third-placed groups.

Same thing for Georgia, who, with one point, must aim for victory against Portugal to hope for qualification. Depending on the result of the Turks against the Czechs, the Georgians would be second or third. In the event of a draw or defeat, the road would end there for Willy Sagnol’s men.

The classification of group F after two days:

1. Portugal – 6 points.

2. Türkiye – 3 points.

3. Czech Republic – 1 point.

4. Georgia – 1 point.
