11:55 am: Germany is the away team against Switzerland

Germany is suddenly the away team at the European Championships in their own country. The schedule for the last group match confuses some fans. Switzerland – Germany. That is the schedule for the game on Sunday (9 p.m./ARD and Magenta TV) according to the official UEFA rules.

The reason is the seeding system. Germany was placed A1 as the header. Switzerland was drawn in fourth place in Group A. In the dummy schedule, A1-A2, A3-A4, then A1-A3, A2-A4 play first. But then the teams are swapped. A4 gets home advantage, so to speak. Otherwise, the Swiss would always be the visiting team and would always have a disadvantage when it comes to choosing the color of their jersey, for example. The formal home team gets to choose that.

10:41 a.m.: France coach defends himself against bluff accusations

Didier Deschamps didn’t want to hear anything about a bluff with Kylian Mbappé. “If it had been a decisive game, I might have thought twice about it,” he said. In the 0:0 draw between the European Championship favorites and the Netherlands, France’s coach left his star player on the bench after he broke his nose: “After everything that happened, I thought it was the better decision.”

Endless chances and big debates about a disallowed goal

Despite several great chances, the French failed to score against the Netherlands. The goal by the Dutchman Xavi was disallowed due to an offside position. With the score at 0:0, both teams now have the best chance of reaching the round of 16. The highlights in the video.

Mbappé sustained the injury on Monday in the 1-0 win against Austria. On Thursday, Deschamps assured that everything would be done to ensure that Mbappé would be available. In fact, however, the 25-year-old future Real Madrid professional was not even one of the players warming up on the sidelines for a possible substitution. The problem: Without Mbappé, the French team’s chances of winning are dwindling. The team has not won a single one of the last six games without him in the starting lineup.
