Euro 2024: what are the ten stages of the competition?

The kick-off of this Euro 2024 will be given on June 14 at the Fussball Arena in Munich, better known as the Allianz Arena the rest of the year (the naming of stadiums is not authorized during the Euro), the lair of Bayern Munich. Germany will host Scotland for this first match of the tournament and the first meeting in Munich. Five other matches will follow, including a round of 16 and the first semi-final.

But the Munich Football Arena is not the largest stadium in this Euro in terms of capacity. With its 66,000 seats, the enclosure is surpassed by the Olympiastadion in Berlin (71,000 seats). The old Olympic stadium also hosts Herta Berlin’s league matches and will host three group matches, a round of 16, a quarter-final and especially the final on July 14.

In Leipzig, the smallest stadium

The other eight stadiums are well known to football fans and Bundesliga followers. Starting with the BVB Stadion in Dortmund where the famous yellow wall resides, one of the hottest atmospheres in Europe. Four group matches, a round of 16 and the second semi-final will be played there.

In addition to the Berlin Olympic Stadium, three other stadiums will host a quarter-final. The Volksparkstadion in Hamburg, also host of four group matches; the Düsseldorf Arena (three group matches) and the Stuttgart Arena (four group matches).

The Frankfurt Arena and the Cologne Stadium will host four group matches and a round of 16. The Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen and the Leipzig Stadium (smaller venue with a capacity of 40,000 seats) were also selected.

The French team will play against Austria on June 18 at 9 p.m. at the Düsseldorf Arena, against the Netherlands on June 21 at 9 p.m. at the Leipzig Stadium and against Poland on June 25 at 6 p.m. at the BVB Stadion before a possible round of 16.
