European Championship Round of 16: Police rescue man from stadium roof in Dortmund during European Championship match

During the Germany vs. Denmark match, a man climbs onto the roof of the Westfalenstadion. The police arrive and bring him down.

During the European Championship round of 16 match between Germany and Denmark in Dortmund, a man climbed onto the roof of the Westfalenstadion and had to be brought down by the police.

The climber is a 21-year-old from Osnabrück, the police said. The man has been arrested. So far there is no evidence that the 21-year-old wanted to endanger the stadium visitors, they said.

Emergency services approached the man in the stadium and spoke to him. A helicopter also illuminated the stadium roof. At no point was there any danger to other people.

According to police reports, the man had already reached the roof of the stadium at 10:27 p.m. The police were initially unable to provide any information about his motive. It was also initially unclear how he got onto the roof.
