European Cup vs World Cup: Mbappe’s Bold Claim and Messi’s Response

Jakarta

Kylian Mbappe claim European Cup much harder to win than World Cup. Lionel Messi gave a sharp reply to his former PSG teammate.

Mbappe created a sensation ahead of the 2024 European Cup. The French bomber boasted that the Euro tournament was much more challenging than winning the World Cup.

As is known, the European Cup is the only international title that Mbappe has not won. He has kissed the 2018 World Cup and 2021 UEFA Nations League trophies.

“In my opinion, the competition is more challenging than the World Cup. It’s very tough from the group stage. It’s a competition we haven’t won for 24 years, which is a long time,” said Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe’s remarks received a strong reaction from South American football people. Moreover, Real Madrid’s new star once boasted that the level of European football was far above that of South America.

Captain of the Argentinian National Team, Lionel Messi, also commented on Mbappe’s opinion regarding the European Cup. The 2022 World Cup champion believes that the World Cup level is number one, because the world’s best teams are there, including the European and South American champions.

“Mbappe said the Euros were more difficult than the World Cup? He also said South American teams did not have as much competition as European teams. Everyone appreciates what they are playing,” said Messi, quoted from ESPN Argentina.

“The Euro is important, but there is no Argentina who has been world champion 3 times, Brazil has been world champion 5 times, Uruguay has been world champion 2 times. Aren’t there many world champions who haven’t played to say the Euro is the most difficult?”

“At the World Cup the best teams are there, all the world champions are there. That’s why everyone wants to be world champion,” Lionel Messi emphasized.
