Everything is now ready for the big appointment with the Regions Tournament 2024 of baseball, hosted this year by Piedmont from 7 to 9 June.
The important Italian event will also have Fossano as the protagonist, being one of the venues that will host the matches of the different categories. In particular, the city of Acaja hosts group B of the Senior League (Under 18) Baseball, the most awaited, which involves Emilia Romagna, Sardinia, Marche, Tuscany and Liguria. Piedmont is instead included in group A of the category, together with Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Lombardy and Lazio and will play the matches in Turin.
The other categories, namely Little League (Under 13) and Junior League (Under 15) of baseball and softball, will instead be hosted on the other fields: Avigliana, Pinerolo, La Loggia and Castellamonte.
The first race scheduled in Fossano will be Liguria-Tuscany, scheduled for 8.30 am on Friday 7 June. After the group stage, the Santa Lucia field will also host, again for the Senior category, the 9th-10th place final and the 3rd-4th place final, scheduled for 9 June, while the grand final will be staged in Turin.
8 Fossanese (plus one) at the start
Fossano will not be at the center only because of the matches that will be played on the local field. In fact, eight young athletes from the Baseball Club will also take part in the event. They are Lucia Geraci and Alice Grimaldi for the Under 13 softball; Alice Panero for Under 15 softball, Daniele Ghigo for Under 15 baseball; Matteo Cortese, Mattia Fariano, Jacopo Garbelli and Simone Giusta for Under 18 baseball. Not only that: the protagonist will also be Claudio Sandrone, the “all-rounder” of the biancoblu association, who has been entrusted with the prestigious role of manager of the Piedmontese selection engaged in the Senior League of baseball and included in group A, which is played in Turin.
